Seed sown too deeply may not germinate.

Small tree to 8m found only in Australia.  Erect branches with green or grey green foliage. It often grows in open mallee scrub on deep sandy soils and dunes and is widespread in Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. Prefers a light well-drained soil in an open sunny position. Very hardy and drought and frost resistant.  It has warted cones which are dense and persistent on the tree.  The cones can hold their seeds for several years.
