Enchylaena Tomentosa-Ruby Saltbush-BUSH TUCKA-25 seeds
ENCHYLAENA TOMENTOSA “Ruby Saltbush”
Family: Amaranthaceae
Sprouting: 21-28 days in the right conditions.
A useful plant for gardens in dry climates and endemic throughout Australia, Ruby Saltbush is a small, shrub to about 1m high. Drought and frost resistant and salt tolerant, it prefers a light to heavy soil in an open position. A common species of semi-arid and arid climates. It has greyish foliage and produces soft, sweet, ruby-red berries 6-8mm in diameter. These make a juicy snack food when eaten raw or soaked in water to make a sweet drink. They can also be dried and rehydrated later. A red dye can also be made from the berries.
