Dichondra Repens-'Kidney Weed'-OTHER-seeds
DICHONDRA REPENS “Kidney Weed”
Family: Convolvulaceae.
Ideal sowing temp: 10-22C (Avoid the coldest and hottest temps).
Position: Low traffic areas
Sowing: 1mm deep. Direct sow.
Care: Water with fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed. Covering the seeds with a light layer of peat moss helps with moisture retention. If using as a lawn alternative, the dichondra can be mowed to around 4 cm in the summer, cutting every two weeks.
Sprouting: 7-42 days.
Drought-resistant, creeping ground-cover, native to Australia and New Zealand. A lawn substitute for low foot traffic areas, it is often planted in places where other turf-type grass does not grow well. Adult leaves are kidney shaped and small flowers green-yellow. It will form a thick mat in part shaded positions and also looks wonderful in hanging baskets or pots as it will cascade over the side and is very low maintenance.
Approx 250-450 seeds per gram
SOWING RATE: 1 KG PER 100 METERS SQUARE
