Family: Amaryllidaceae sub. Agapanthoideae
Native to Southern Africa but naturalised in Australia, Agapanthus africanus has produced a great many subspecies, hybrids and cultivars around the world, including ssp Orientalis which are larger than most other cultivars. This particular beauty grows up to 1.5m tall aqnd 1.2m wide. With extra large white and blue two-tone heads, these are an excellent, perennial, set-and-forgot plant, needing very little attention outside of removing the stalks after the flower heads die off. For most of the year, the plant is a huge clump of green, strappy, drooping fronds that resemble giant grasses until the flowers begin to appear in summer. Drought, frost and humidity tolerant and excellent disease tolerance once matured.
Looks fabulous in garden beds, borders, patio pots, and planter boxes.
NOTE: These have low seed viability and may take up to 2 years to bloom from seed.
****Please note: these are seeds (we are NOT selling these as live plants). Quarantine restrictions and costs prohibit us from selling these seeds to WA, Tas, and Internationally.
