ACACIA FIMBRIATA
“Fringed Wattle”
Family: Mimosaceae
Sprouting: 6-42 days.
Small rounded shrubby tree to 7m high and 6m around with sweetly scented yellow ball-shaped flowers in spring. Common in Queensland and New South Wales, it makes a great hedge or screening plant as it can become quite dense. Prefers moist soils in a protected position and is drought-tolerant and frost tender.
Great for erosion control loose sand, heavy clay, or normal soils. Can be used for floral arrangements, and bees love it too. As with most acacia sp. it has edible properties, mostly the seeds which are apparently quite tasty on this one.
