DAVIESIA ULICIFOLIA “Gorse Bitter Pea”
Family: Fabaceae.
Sprouting: 6-42 days (at 25C).
Small-medium upright shrub to 2m high, found mostly in sclerophyll communities and grassy woodlands. Will tolerate a range of soils from well-drained to waterlogged clay and is considered very useful for hostile sites and revegetation of roadsides. Attracts butterflies. Makes an attractive nesting site for small birds, small animals, and reptiles, with it’s prickly leaves, and is a nitrogen-fixer, it is showy in spring with it’s bright yellowy-brown flower display.
Drought tolerant and frost tolerant to -5C, it prefers sunny a position, long seed viability, and is easy to grow.
