Tulbaghia violacea 'Society Garlic'
1 scoop - approx: 25 seeds
Sowing time: Any. Does not like heavy frost.
Sprouting: 14-21 days.
Harvest: Best to plant into trays and then gently separate and plant out into the garden in their second year. Flowers appear 2nd or 3rd year.
Chakra: Crown
Will rot if soil too wet and not drained enough. If you don’t have sandy soil, add organic matter to create good drainage. Leaves can be chopped and used in place of chives in salads, soups, and more.
The leaves are used chopped in sauces, soups, salads and as a garnish. The flower buds steeped in vinegar give it a mild garlic flavour and can also be used as a garnish. They look attractive in salads.
